Hospital Patients without Water

Hospital Patients without Water

You think nothing can go wrong with utilities and water when you’re staying in the hospital, but think again. Seventy-seven patients at the Atascadero State Hospital were left without running water for more than a week. The culprit: a broken sewer line.

This broken sewer line gave units no functional plumbing and zero ways to wash hands entering and exiting the patient’s room.

To combat this temporary problem, the patients have been provided water and are using public restrooms or neighboring unit restrooms.

Aging infrastructures and broken pipe lines are so common throughout the nation and many cities and towns are experiencing what Atascadero State Hospital is currently enduring. It’s important to keep up the maintenance on aging pipes and take care of any issues immediately. A common form of restoring an aging pipe is the CIPP method.

CIPP is a method for restoring older pipe lines with minimal digging in streets and on adjacent property. A piece of durable lining is installed inside the old pipe. It is a safe and environmentally sound solution to replace and repair aging pipes.
